Located in Boksburg, the East Rand Galleria
mall will be revamped at a cost of R411 million and renamed East Point as it enters a new era of shopping.
Owned by Johannesburg Stock Exchange listed property company, SA Corporate Real Estate Fund, it connects to East Rand Mall to create a 110 000 square metre retail powerhouse.
Now, the 45 000 square metre East Point Shopping Centre is poised to deliver a ground-breaking and exciting redevelopment project. The impressive scale of the project necessitates the use of some 4 350 cubic metres of concrete and 420 tons of steel used for construction. The refurbishment will also introduce an array of luxury outlet shopping, a fresh new family oriented food court, like John Dory’s, Mimmo’s,Black Steer, Hello Tomato and Flame & Grill. This new food court will also include fast-food service restaurants and a children’s play area double its retail variety to around 120 stores. Improved parking and access, new levels of energy-efficiency and still offer shoppers all the quality and value they expect with a substantially upgraded Pick n Pay, Game and Toys R Us at its heart.
During this exciting upgrade, all the mall’s tenants are trading throughout the changes. “During this time, there will be some relocation of stores to temporary trading locations, but everything possible is being done to streamline this process to reduce disruption for shoppers,” says Preston Gaddy, Divisional Director in Retail Leasing.
